Welcome to Church Commons!
Church Commons is a shared space for Christian communities seeking faithful, communal formation. It offers resources designed to be used together—by congregations, elders, lay leaders, and pastors—especially in contexts where leadership is shared or pastoral presence is limited.
Resources are organized around the practices that shape Christian life. Eventually we will have resources for all of the following:
- Worship — shared prayer and gathered praise
- Devotion — practices that form faith over time
- Leadership — guidance for shared discernment and care
- Ministry — resources for teaching, sacrament, and community life
- Mission — practices that orient communities toward the world God loves
Materials may be used as written or adapted freely to fit the context in which you gather.
Begin with Worship
Worship resources are designed to be participatory, accessible, and readable on phones and tablets, allowing communities to gather without printed orders of worship.
Seasons of Shalom
The Seasons of Shalom offer a way for churches and faith communities to discern where they are—not by measuring success or decline, but by attending to balance in shared life. Over time, communities move through seasons that call for different kinds of faithfulness: listening before acting, rebuilding trust, honoring loss, renewing imagination, ordering common life, and living what has been learned. These seasons help leaders and communities respond wisely to real conditions, rather than forcing solutions that belong to another moment. Communities may find themselves in more than one season at a time.
